Finding out more about your credit file

You are entitled to a free copy of your credit file every 12 months by getting in contact with one of these credit reporting bodies: Equifax, Illion, Experian or Tasmanian Collection Service. Please be aware that they may offer to charge you a fee to obtain your file faster, but this is not compulsory. Your credit file contains information about your credit history including any credit applications that have been made in the last 5 years, as well as your loan repayment information for some credit providers.

Inaccuracies on your credit file

It is important to make sure the information on your credit file is up-to-date and accurate. If you believe that any information on your credit file is inaccurate, you should in the first instance make a request to the credit provider that you believe supplied the information and ask for it to be corrected. They will investigate your request and provide you with an outcome. Alternatively, you can contact the credit reporting body to investigate the error with your file.
